This is the second map of Houston speeding traps , the first one was cameras - I guess this refers to where the cops are just sitting there on there lazy asses trying to nail people for going 5 miles over the limit instead of fighting crime...Thank you for the post!!!
I've been caught in these traps twice recently and I'm fed up with it. I think even the cop was embarrassed about doing it this way on my last encounter. I've accused them twice now of replacing "Protect and Serve" with "harass and bill". My dad was in law enforcement for over 30 years, and I know this isn't the way law enforcement is intended to be metered out. Continuation of these policies is only going to do away with what litttle respect law enforcement has, and it's my opinion that these methods are going to lead to unnecessary violence against these Houston cowboys somewhere down the line.
I've got pictures of their tactics from an experience where they say I rolled through a stop sign, observing the accused violation from a spot over 150 yards away where a group of officers were having a party while collecting stacks of tickets at $239 each. Only problem is that I stopped at that intersection and will go to jail before submitting to their nonsense. I waited 3 to 4 hours the other night just to get a jury trial date scheduled some time in the spring of next year. The courts are so overwhelmed with this nonsense that they can't begin to handle it.
You might be able to sense from my tone that I'm ready to fight. These tactics have got to be brought out into the open. Anyone out there ready to join in a class action against the city? It might not do anything but shed some light on what the city is doing, but I believe even that would be worth pursuing. At the very least, I intend to find out who's behind this and who's responsible for setting the fines for the artificial violations. Somebody's going to get some press on this, one way or another.
