Despite such world-renown examples as Millennium Park, the majority of the 550 Chicago city parks are in fact small neighborhood ones -- often only a block or two in size, nestled within residential areas, with only modest facilities mostly designed to benefit those immediately surrounding the space. Here, for example, is an annotated map highlighting almost 40 of them, in this case all found on the city's north side, using a route that covers over 25 miles (40 km) of city streets.
